DESIGN

At MENU ceramics, we collaborate closely with our production team to design ceramics that marry thoughtful aesthetics with everyday functionality. Our creations are crafted to be versatile and enduring, making them ideal for both home settings and restaurant environments. Whether you’re hosting a dinner party or enjoying a casual movie night, our ceramics are designed to meet your needs with style and durability.

Inspired by the muted earth tones of British Columbia’s landscape, our house-made glazes enhance the natural beauty of each piece while offering durability, scratch resistance, and non-toxic properties. We embrace a design philosophy that values simplicity, utility, and timelessness, ensuring that our ceramics not only serve practical purposes but also add a touch of elegance to your space.

MATERIALS

Our ceramics are crafted from high-quality clay and glaze, each derived from raw materials that contribute to the unique character of every piece. Our clay is sourced from trusted Canadian manufacturers, ensuring both quality and sustainability. Our current collection offers two clay bodies, a white porcelain or a toasted terracotta. With four glazes to choose from, eggshell white, forest green, gray, and a timber brown. 

We design our glazes with the environment in mind, selecting materials that endure while minimizing their ecological footprint. Each glaze application results in subtle variations, adding individuality to every item. To maintain our commitment to responsible sourcing, we occasionally introduce new, limited-edition glazes and may retire others when materials are no longer available in an environmentally responsible manner.

THE STUDIO

Our dinnerware is crafted in a warehouse studio located in False Creek, Vancouver, BC, where a dedicated team of five ceramic artists brings each piece to life. From clay preparation and production to kiln firing, quality checks, and packing, every stage of our process occurs within this creative space.

Our production methods are diverse, including slip casting, jiggering, ram pressing, and wheel throwing. However, we prioritize wheel throwing for our main dinnerware line, valuing its unique ability to capture the maker’s mark and imbue each piece with a personal touch. This hands-on approach ensures that every item reflects the artistry and craftsmanship inherent in our studio.
